Medical Marijuana in Florida: 

Special Session 2017A -  SB 8A Restricts Smoking, Allows Vaping and Edibles - LOW-THC Cannabis can be used on any form of public transportation and in any public place.

Unfortunately of the 7 dispensers only 2-3 currently produce their own Low-THC Cannabis - GW Pharmaceuticals is the producer of the Low-THC Cannabis Derivative in Florida. What started out as a conversation on how to create Low-THC Cannabis plants from high THC strains turned into a contract with Big Pharma. - Cannabis/Marijuana derivative defined as any article containing marijuana, or any derivative thereof, which is NOT a naturally grown and unadulterated marijuana flower.  this definition is not in the Florida bill; however Congressional bills H.R. 1823 & S 776 contain this definition. 

MARIJUANA USE AT THE QUALIFIED PATIENT'S EMPLOYMENT IS LEFT UP TO THE EMPLOYER.

In the Capital City - Tallahassee - law enforcement utilizes the Juvenile Civil Citation Program for only 70% of eligible cases, whereas officers in Miami-Dade utilize for 99% of eligible juveniles. DiSC Village operates the Adult Civil Citation Program in Tallahassee - Cannabis Possession should not have high fees as many persons may need a medical marijuana ID card and cannot afford the high costs $299 for initial physician visit or prefer smoking the flower which was denied by the legislature even though Amendment 2 allowed for.  Cannabis possession penalties must be reduced to a fine - no online intervention or drug screens, or community service.

NORML Tallahassee supports the rights of individuals and believe adults and juveniles should be afforded the right to a civil fine in lieu of an arrest for possession of cannabis/cannabis accessory.  We support local governments whom allow for multiple civil citations for minor offenses.
